In Germany, a standard Class B car driving licence is sufficient for motorhomes with a permissible total weight of up to 3.5 tonnes. If the vehicle weighs more than 3.5 tonnes, you will need a C1 or C driving licence.
We currently use Fiat and Ford chassis as the base for our vehicles.

The COC (Certificate of Conformity) is issued by the manufacturer to confirm that the vehicle complies with current EU standards or holds EU type approval. In German, it is also referred to as a “Konformitätsbescheinigung” or “EG-Übereinstimmungsbescheinigung”. It contains all information required to register the vehicle and significantly simplifies the registration process in EU countries. The COC document includes information such as approved tyre and wheel combinations, vehicle weights, and the vehicle’s emissions classification.
The construction of a motorhome often involves several manufacturers. The vehicles are then homologated in stages. For example, a FIAT engine may come with a COC (Stage 1) and be combined with an Al-Ko rear axle extension (COC Stage 2) to form a complete chassis. The leisure vehicle manufacturer – in this case Corigon – then builds a motorhome conversion on that chassis and issues a Corigon COC (Stage 3). In many cases, there are only two stages – Stage 1 (e.g. Fiat or Ford) and Stage 2 (Corigon) – because the manufacturer builds the motorhome conversion directly onto the base chassis, which typically features a ladder frame. When it comes to matters such as approved tyres or payload/unloading capacity, the COC issued last always takes precedence.
The key difference lies in how they operate. A compressor refrigerator works independently of the outside temperature and runs on 12V or 230V power. This means the refrigerator’s contents remain well cooled even when it’s 40°C outside. By contrast, an absorption fridge (powered by 12V/230V/gas) can only cool effectively within a limited range relative to the outside temperature.

Yes, the warranty applies to the vehicle itself and is therefore transferred to the new owner. If the vehicle is resold, the seller agrees to transfer the water ingress warranty, including any remaining entitlements, to the new owner.
The water ingress warranty on your Corigon motorhome or camper van is valid for seven years.
To maintain the warranty, the owner must have annual inspections carried out.
The annual inspection must be performed by the seller or an authorised Corigon dealer or service partner, in accordance with Corigon’s inspection guidelines. Find your local Corigon dealer here: Find a dealer
The warranty is valid under the following conditions:
All annual water ingress inspections must have been carried out on time and without interruption
The vehicle must not have exceeded a mileage of 100,000 km
The vehicle must have been used normally and in accordance with its intended purpose
The vehicle must not have been misused or subjected to abnormal loads or stresses
The care and operating instructions provided by Corigon must have been observed
Any signs of water ingress must have been reported without delay (and no later than 14 days after their discovery) and must have been repaired by the seller or an authorised Corigon dealer or service partner. The vehicle must also have been made available for inspection or repair promptly upon request
The vehicle must not have been exposed to environmental conditions beyond the usual and permissible limits.
All areas of the vehicle covered by the warranty must be in their original condition. If any work has been carried out, it must have been performed properly in accordance with Corigon’s specifications, and by the seller or an authorised Corigon dealer or service partner
The warranty is valid for a maximum of seven years from the date of first registration or delivery of the vehicle
The annual water ingress inspection provides confirmation from your dealer that your Corigon motorhome or camper van is free from damp – in other words, that no water has penetrated either the joints and fittings in the outer body or the components installed by Corigon. Examples of outer body components include roof vents, opening windows, sockets, the pop-top roof, connections, openings and joints in areas such as the floor, wheel arches, side walls, front and rear walls, roof and more. If any water is discovered, the seller will carry out the necessary repairs.
If you miss the annual inspection deadline, you can still have it carried out within six months of the due date in order to maintain your warranty. However, the calendar date for future inspections will remain unchanged and will not be reset by the delayed inspection.
To maintain the warranty, you must have an inspection carried out once a year. This inspection must be performed by an authorised Corigon dealer or service partner. The first inspection must take place within the first year after vehicle delivery – at the latest, within one year of the initial registration. Each subsequent annual inspection must take place on the same date each year as the deadline for the first inspection.
The current operating manual for your Corigon motorhome is available from our customer service team.

The annual water ingress inspection must be carried out by the seller or a Corigon dealer. You can find their locations here: Find a dealer
In accordance with our warranty terms, the water ingress warranty is valid for seven years. It is important to note that an annual inspection is required under these terms. If the inspection is not carried out in a given year, the warranty may become void and you may lose your entitlement to any claims. We strongly recommend adhering to the prescribed maintenance intervals to keep your warranty valid. If you have any questions, please contact your local dealer directly.
The approved child seats for your vehicle are listed in the operating manual. Alternatively, your Corigon dealer will be happy to advise you. You can find a dealer near you here: Find a dealer
The following Corigon models come with factory-fitted Isofix mounting points as standard: all camper van models. For all other models, Isofix child-seat mounting points can be ordered as an optional extra (as of July 2025).
Yes, we recommend having an annual habitation inspection carried out by an authorised Corigon dealer or service partner. This helps to maintain the high quality and long-term value of your motorhome or camper van.

Yes – just like passenger cars, motorhomes must undergo regular roadworthiness and emissions inspections at an authorised testing centre. The due date for your next inspection can be found on your number plate and in the TÜV inspection documents.
The technically permissible total weight is the weight limit set by the manufacturer that the vehicle must not exceed. Corigon defines this value based on the specific layout, i.e. it may vary depending on the model (e.g. 3,500 kg or 4,400 kg). You can find the applicable value for each layout in the technical specifications.
A detailed explanation of the “technically permissible total weight” can be found here: Legal weight information
Put simply, the mass in running order refers to the weight of the base vehicle in its standard configuration, plus a legally defined allowance of 75 kg for the driver. By law, the actual mass in running order of your vehicle may differ from the nominal value stated in the sales documents. A tolerance of ± 5% is legally permitted. To give you full transparency regarding any weight variations, Corigon weighs each vehicle at the end of the production line and shares the results with your dealer.
A detailed explanation of the “mass in running order” can be found here:Legal weight information
The approved seating capacity (including the driver) is determined by the manufacturer as part of the type approval process. This number is used to calculate what’s known as the “passenger mass”. This value is based on a standard weight of 75 kg per passenger (excluding the driver).
